The International Baccalaureate (IB) educational programme is based on the idea that self-inquiry and reflection are at the core of its pedagogy. DST is a powerful tool that can achieve those pedagogial aims.
Theory of Knowledge
Essentially how do we know about what we know. Otherwise known as ‘epistimology’. The theory of knowledge within the IB programmes is a core component of the overall values that the IB philosophy intents to create from it’s learners.
DST is an ideal medium from which to teach the fundamentals of how to question what is is that we know and how we know it. Taking a ‘Two Sides’ to every story approach allows students to grasp far more easily that knowledge is often a socio-cultural construction that is normally a matter of perspective rather than hard facts.
